McDermott and Siddle win the prestigious end-of-season prizes conceived by BKT.

Ben McDermott and Peter Siddle are the best players of the 2021-22 season of the Australian KFC Big Bash League. The two Australians have distinguished themselves in the eleventh season of this particular sport by winning the BKT Golden Caps. Unlike the golden ball in football and the MVP in basketball, the prestigious prize in cricket, launched by BKT in the 2019-2020 season, can not only be put on display on the shelves in the players’ homes or in their personal trophy cases, but is worn officially in every match. The initiative in fact sees the awarding to the top scorer (BKT Golden Bat) and the best bowler (BKT Golden Arm) in the season of two iconic cricket gold caps branded with the BKT logo and embellished with the embroidering in the centre of three wickets or a bat, depending on the role concerned. The BKT Golden Bat has been won by McDermott, who, in his debut season, has been the first to pass the barrier of a hundred runs in three consecutive games, thus becoming part of the history of the KFC BBL. The Hobart Hurricanes player concluded the tournament with a total score of 577 runs, the fourth highest total ever. Cricket proves once again to be a sport of a thousand surprises and the winner of the BKT Golden Arm prize is proof of this. Peter Siddle, at 37 years of age, has distinguished himself over the year for a ‘lack of inhibitions’ that is usually associated with young talents. The evergreen specialist of the Adelaide Strikers has in fact been awarded the BKT Golden Arm. Thanks to his talent as a right-hand bowler and his experience in the world of wood-cutting competitions, Sid Vicious - because that’s his nickname - has ended the year with 33 wickets. Caps off. The partnership between the KFC BBL and BKT continues to entertain and give excellent results. In a short time, the BKT Golden Bat and BKT Golden Arm caps have become a genuine institution, not only for the sportsmen who strive to give their utmost for both their team and their personal glory, but above all for all the fans of Twenty20 cricket who can’t wait to see their idols wear … gold.
