ANTONIO VERGARA LIFTS THE SERIE BKT MVP TROPHY FOR AUGUST

The Serie BKT is starting up again and, with it, also the MVP trophy, which is awarded to the best footballer of the month. The award was devised by BKT, the leader company in the production of off-highway tires and Title Sponsor of the championship, in collaboration with Lega B.

The first player to receive the award this season was Antonio Vergara, the Reggiana midfielder born in 2003, who was voted the best player in August by the expert journalists of Serie BKT. He received the award on the occasion of the Reggiana-Südtirol match, matchday 5 of the first half of the season.

According to the Opta data on the period considered, the Reggiana playmaker was in the European top 5 for active participation in goals (three, two goals plus an assist) among the players born after the first of January 2003. And not only that: Vergara was also in the top 3 of midfielders in Serie BKT 2024/2025 who attempted the most total conclusions in the month of August (10) and was the first for shots on goal (5).

A quality player, Vergara is a midfielder who can also adapt to playing on the right. After his debut with the Under-17s at Napoli, the midfielder born in Frattaminore joined the club’s Spring squad, in which he played in the Spring 2 championship in the 2020/21 season, making an important contribution to the club from Campania’s winning promotion. His performances kept on improving in the following two years and, after a short stay at Pro Vercelli, it was Reggiana who decided to focus on the young Italian’s talent to cause some surprises in Serie BKT.
