RUGBY AND MONSTER JAM: A HISTORIC ENCOUNTER THANKS TO BKT 1

What do rugby and monster trucks have in common? Strength, the ability to overcome obstacles, hard work, but above all great entertainment and excitement for those in the stands. Two sports that appear so different, yet find common ground in BKT's values, which is why we have decided to bring these two spectacular events together through our sponsorship.

Glasgow will be the venue for this historic meeting between the BKT United Rugby Championship and Monster Jam, which will take place at two key moments in the season for these two competitions, on 20 and 26 September.

THE CHAMPIONS OF THE GLASGOW WARRIORS AT THE HYDRO ARENA

On 20 September, on the occasion of the last European date of the Monster Jam International Tour, a number of players from the Glasgow Warriors, winners of the BKT United Rugby Championship in 2024, will be present at the Ovo Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

  • Ollie Smith, 25-year-old full-back for the Scottish national team (gaining 10 caps so far) and for the Glasgow Warriors, with which he grew up before making his debut in 2021. He is an ambassador for Give Blood for Good, a charity founded in honour of his brother.
  • Gregor Brown, 24, born in Aberdeen and raised in Egypt and Nigeria, plays as a flanker and has also been called up to play for the British and Irish Lions.
  • Ben Afshar, a 22-year-old scrum-half, was captain of the Scottish U20 national team and is awaiting his first call-up to the senior national team. In his spare time, he is an established DJ on the Glasgow music scene.

In the hours leading up to the event, BKT will take the players to the Pit Party (between 10.30 and 11.30 am) - where they will distribute small autographed rugby balls and be available to take Polaroids with fans, giving them a physical and tangible souvenir of their encounter with their heroes – and to the hospitality area (between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.) before they too enjoy the Monster Jam show, which will start at 1pm.

MONSTER JAM TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT SCOTSTOUN STADIUM

On 26 September, instead, the roles will be reversed. For the Glasgow Warriors' season opener, driver Joe Dennis will be present alongside the JCB Digatron truck at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, where he will take part in a series of pre- and post-match activities.

He is scheduled to arrive at the BKT stand, adjacent to the stadium, at 6 p.m. Here too, fans will be able to take a Polaroid photo and Monster Jam stress balls autographed by the driver will be distributed. He will then perform the coin toss and carry the ball onto the field for the kick-off. After enjoying the excitement of the BKT URC from the BKT hospitality area, he will also present the medal to the BKT Player of the Match.

All these activities have been planned by BKT in close collaboration with URC and Monster Jam – of which BKT has been Title Sponsor since 2022 and Official Tyre Partner since 2014 – with the aim of bringing sport closer to fans and supporters around the world. This commitment by the brand defines the presence of BKT, a global leader in the production of off-road tyres, in the world of sport.

With BKT, the fun on the rugby pitch doesn't end there: indeed, it has only just begun! Glasgow also marks the start of the Fan Games, a series of activities that BKT dedicates each year to the enjoyment of rugby fans, with challenges and themed games during the pre-matches of the BKT United Rugby Championship.
